email from Linda Figliola (KatyBud3@aol.com) several years ago:
MARY P. HARTMAN (wife of Lewis), will dated 8/27/1861, probated 1/27/1863.
James L. Todd, executor, presents the will for proving on 1/27/1863. He
gives evidence of the heirs and next of kin which includes some apparent minors as
a Special Guardian was appointed for them. Surrogate gave notice on 2/6/1863
for all to attend probate; will adjudged valid 2/9/1863.
(Note: James L. Todd is the husband of Lewis' daughter, Louisa).

Mary gives $3,000 to her executors in trust to invest in "safe investments"
and to pay her daughter, Louisa M. Todd, interest/income quarterly or
'half-yearly' "...upon her separate receipt and free from her husband's control" (wow,
neat).

Upon Louisa M. Todd's death, $3,000 to her children or other issue if
deceased.

Louisa gets furniture in the house occupied by her (Note: Mary Hartman was
living with daughter, Louisa and son-in-law James L. Todd likely at the Rose
Street house), Brown's Family Bible, and a silver tea set. Upon Louisa's death,
these go to Louisa's dtr., MATILDA W. TODD.

She bequeaths $2,000 to William and Edward Mitchell to be held in trust for
the children of her daughter, Cornelia C. BERRIAN, Deceased, equally. (Here I
learned that the daughter, Cornelia, mentioned in Lewis' will married a
Berrian and is now deceased, so death between 11/1839 and 2/1863).

To daughter, Martha Matilda WEYMAN, 6 silver dessert spoons and a small gold
watch.

All the rest, residue and remainder to Louisa M. Todd.
Executors: Sons in law, James L. Todd and Edmund H. Weyman
Witnesses: Henry H. Casey, 133 W. 11th Street and Christian D. COVENHOVEN, E
26th Street and Third Avenue

The witnesses swear oaths 2/9/1863 and Will is recorded 2/9/1863
bap from US Dutch Reformed Church Records in Selected States on ancestry, spells
mother's name as Pinfold
