Joe attended St. Mary's Grammar School and Phoenixville Junior High School. He 
enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. He 
served for four years, and his tours abroad included one in Italy. He is now a truck 
dispatcher for Heavener Inc. in Harleysville, Pa.
Joe was the recipient of the 1985 Heavener Inc., Employee of the Year Award. He 
was chosen by his co-workers and employer. Given a trip as a gift, Joe and his wife 
took an all-expense-paid trip to Disneyworld, Florida.
Joe and his family reside at 234 Marshall Street, Phoenixville, Pa.

JOSEPH ANTHONY DECARLO SR., 71 Joseph Anthony DeCarlo Sr., 71, husband of 
Maryann Francis DeCarlo, of Gilbertsville, formerly of Phoenixville, passed away 
Sunday, June 7, 2015 at LifeCare Hospital of Chester County. Born in Phoenixville, he 
was the son of the late Dominic and Carmella (Zappone) DeCarlo. Affectionately 
known as “Sonny” and “Deacon”, Joseph was a member of the Tri County Bible 
Church. He was also a volunteer for the Appalachia Service Project through his 
affiliation with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, PA. Surviving along with his 
wife are six children (their spouses); two siblings; grandchildren; and great-
grandchildren as well as the many children who he generously welcomed into his home 
over the years. Including his parents, Joe was predeceased by one brother. A 
memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 at Tri County Bible 
Church, 142 Buchert Road, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Interment will be private. The 
family will be available for greeting at 6:15 p.m. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation 
Center, Inc., 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville is in charge of arrangements. In 
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Jude’s 
Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Appalachia Service
