Maud is daughter of Maud de Clare, according to Ancestral Roots & Douglas 
Richardson of SGM. The Plantagenet Ancestry indicates her mother is Maud de Fay.

Douglas Richardson said that Maud's aunt Laurette de Braose (Countess of Leicester) 
gave her Tavistock; However I have Laurette being heiress of Tawstock (which is 
nearby); so maybe Douglas meant Tawstock?
