Note: SIR THOMAS DE POYNINGS, son and heir, held 10 fees of Earl de Warenne at 
Poynings in 1242-43, and in June 1246 was the knight appointed in Sussex to aid the 
escheator. He married, before 1240, Ela, daughter of Robert AIGUILLON, by Margery 
his wife. She died some time before Michaelmas 1251. He was living 31 August 1266,
