Saint-Martin d'Aubigny: Manche, arr. Coutances, cant. Periers

Nigel d'Aubigny was a Domesday tenant-in-chief at Cainhoe and elsewhere in 
Bedfordshire. His origin has been discussed by the present writer, and the conclusion 
reached that he was a member of the same family as Aubigny of Arundel and derived 
his name from St-Martin-d'Aubigny. His exact position in the pedigree has not been 
established with certainty, but the probabilities point somewhat strongly to his having 
been a younger brother of Roger d'Aubigny the father of William d'Aubigny, founder of 
the line of Arundel; if so, he was probably brother of Richard d'Aubigny, abbot of St.
