Norice A. (Mahoney) Conant Smith, 65, of 1224 East Las Olas, the editor of Florida 
Council for the Arts and Humanities publications, died Saturday in North Bridge 
Hospital. 

Born and schooled in Springfield, Mass., she was a graduate of Colby College in 
Maine. 

Her first husband, James Conant, died in 1972. He was the son of a former president 
of Harvard University in Boston, Mass. 

She was the widow of Dr. George Smith. 

She leaves a son, Daniel Conant of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, N. Clark 
Conant of San Francisco, Constance Conant of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Suzanne V. Smith 
of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a brother, James F. Mahoney of Gloucester, Mass., and her 
stepmother, Maria F. Mahoney of Annisquam, Mass. 

A memorial service will be conducted Monday morning at St. Michael's Cathedral in 
Springfield, and burial will be at the convenience of the family. T.P. Sampson Co. of 
Springfield is in charge of local arrangements. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Friends Service Committee, 134 
Prospect St., Cambridge, Mass., 02139, or the Our Lady of Providence Children's 
Center, 2112 Riverdale Road, West Springfield, Mass., 01089-1099.
