The most recent update is the eighteenth update of the entire genealogy and the ninth update of the revisions that include all the individuals for whom there are entries in the Serino, Santa Lucia di Serino, and San Michele di Serino registers for birth, death, and marriage for the years for which the registers are public. With this ninth update the database now includes all entries in the Serino marriage register for 1809 through 1943, all entries in the Serino birth register for 1809 through 1915 (the last year available online), and all entries in the Serino death register for 1809 through 1865. It also includes all entries in the Santa Lucia birth register for 1809 through 1915 (the last year available online), and all entries in the Santa Lucia marriage record for 1809 through 1945. It also includes all entries in the San Michele di Serino birth register for 1809 through 1845, and the San Michele di Serino marriage register for 1809 through 1865. It also includes information from the San Antonio di Padova and the San Biagio church registers. It also includes slected information from other churches in Serino, Santa Lucia di Serino, and San Michele di Serino. It also includes information from selected records of notaries who served Serino. There will be additional updates. The list of documents waiting to be transcribed is very long.

This compilation is a working draft. First, much information is missing, primarily seventeenth and some eighteenth century connections among the Rodia and other family groups, many post-1915 descendants in Serino, and many post-1940 descendants in the United States and elsewhere. Second, as noted above, I am now repeating my systematic reading of the civil birth registers ending in 1915, the civil marriage registers ending in 1943, and the civil death registers ending in 1945 for Serino, Italy, Santa Lucia di Serino, Italy, and San Michele di Serino, Italy, in order to include all entries and not just those mentioning my ancestral families. Third, I have also attempted to bring the family lines up to date in the twentieth and twenty-first century, though there are limitations on preparing a full update, because of restricted records and lack of contacts with most descendants of these Serino families. Fourth, the next step is to continue transcribing the post-1845 birth register of San Michele di Serino, the post-1865 marriage register of San Michele di Serino, the death register of San Michele di Serino, and the post-1864 death registers of Serino and Santa Lucia di Serino, and additional selected entries from other churches in Serino, Santa Lucia di Serino, and San Michele di Serino. For all of these tasks, I need much help.

The information from the systematic reading of the Serino birth, marriage, marriage bann, and death registers, along with those in Santa Lucia di Serino, Italy, and San Michele di Serino, Italy, has been underway for more than a decade. Assistance with the reading and translation of some entries was provided by Melanie D. Holtz, CG, as noted in specific entries in the database. The author's notes are included. In many instances, these are in rough or abbreviated form. Most abbreviated references are self-explanatory, but others are not.

There surely are errors, as I have not yet methodically checked for duplicates. There are errors by clerks, there are errors in what I have read, particularly when registers are damaged or the handwriting is faint or illegible. Some records are missing. There also are many inconsistencies between what the registers show and what people have been told by family members or have entered into records in places other than Serino. Usually these discrepancies are mentioned in the notes.

For persons born after 1924, no information other than names is provided unless the person is known to be deceased.

Please note that this compilation includes families in the United States that changed the spelling of the name Rodia to Rodio, Rody, and Rodino, and there are similar alterations in some of the other family names. Also please note that there are descendants of the Rodia and other families in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, and the United Kingdom. I have included any information that I have received but I have not yet tried to research Serino descendants in those countries. In the meantime I welcome any additions anyone wishes to provide. Further please note that there are families with the same names as those in this database but whose origins are not in Italy. I have not attempted to research these families. Nor have I done anything more than casual research into the other branches of the Rodia family that exist in other areas of Italy.
