Notes
Rodio Fam Tree on ancestry
soc sec apps and claims on ancestry
ww2 draft reg living in Stratford NJ, works at Budd Co in Phila, born in Phila 9 Aug
1896, wife Emelia
[need to figure out who his father is; some trees show him as "Jr." but that doesn't
mesh with "Sr."]
[but a birthplace in Philadelphia conflicts with 1930 census giving birthplace as italy
and arrival in 1898]
1930 in Winslow, Camden Co., N.J. b 1895 Italy, arrive 1898, mechanical draftsman
1940 in Stratford, Camden Co., N.J. he is a draftsman, gives birthplace as
Pennsylvania
Rodia, Rodio, Dramis Fam Tree on ancestry [says his parents are Stanislao and
Giovanna (Cirino) Rodia, with bdate of 9 Mar 1894] but he is not on the 1910 census
with Stanislaus and his family, nor is he listed as a child on Stanislao's 1915
naturalization petition, nor is he with Stanislaus' wife and family when they arrive in
1900.
that tree links to a ww1 draft reg card for a Louia A Rodia b 8 Mar 1894 in Avellino,
Italy, married, registers in Fairfield, Conn., gives 229 E Louther St. in Carlisle as home
address. This cannot be him (wrong birthdate, wrong birthplace, married) yet it gives
occupation as draftsman, same occ as on 1930 census
cannot find him in 1900, 1910, 1920 census
findagrave b 9 Aug 1896, no other Rodia buried in the cemetery (and he is tagged as
Sr.)
US Soc Sec apps and claims on ancestry, b 31 Aug 1896, listed as Sr.
Bruno Fam Tree on ancestry also shows him as son of Stanislao but only record is
1930 census (which doesn't prove connection)
Is he the Louis A. Rodia mentioned in 22 Sep 1922 Phila Inquirer publication: "Court
of Common Pleas No 2 for the County of Philadelphia. Order of Publication in Divorce.
To Rosina Rodia, late of Chicago, Ill. Whereas Louis A. Rodia, your husband, has
filed a libel in the Court of Common Pleas No. 2 of Philadelphia Co. of June Term.
1922, No. 433 praying a divorce against you. Now you are hereby notified and
required to appear in said Court on or before Monday, the 2nd day of October next, to
answer the complaint of the said Louis A. Rodia, and in default of such appearance
you will be liable to have a divorce granted in your absence. Robert E. Lamberton,
Sheriff of Philadelphia."
Ottaviano De Biase, "I Rodia" (2021) has him as child of Nicola Rodia and Maria
Antonia Perna but that can't be because his wife Amelia is a daughter of Nicola Rodia
and Maria Antonia Perna
Military record for WW1 give his birth as 9 March 1894, born in Avellno, registered for
draft in Fairfield, Conn., gives his home address as Louther St in Carlisle, resident of
Stratford, Conn., naturalized, occ draftsman (same occupation given by Louis A Rodia
in NJ in the 1940 census), is married (form filled out in 1917.
So that makes it likely that he is the Louis who was married to a Rosina
