many sites and even old printed genealogies claim he is the son of John Kaye and 
Dorothy Mauleverer. That, however, is impossible, as more recent sites specify (e.g., 
fabpedigree). Why? Because Edward is born c. 1513. John Kay is born about 1528, as 
is Dorothy Mauleverer. It is not possible to push their birthdates back because their 
ancestries (which are documented and quite large) make it impossible to do so (e.g, 
Wentworth, Radcliffe, Markenfield, and other families, which in turn link into lineages 
in this database).
