coheir of Ralph Picot, of Milton, Kent. [Burke's Peerage]

Note: Turton states that a Sir William Malet, d. 1196, was father of the William Malet 
who married Alice Basset. However both Burke's Peerage and Ancestral Roots have 
Gilbert as the father. Turton seems to agree with the other two sources, except for the 
name of this generation.
