Hakon was promised Ragnild, daughter of the deceased King Magnus Olafsson, to 
make terms of peace with King Harald. She, hover, refused him because of his lowly 
status, "a farmer". On the death of Earl Orm (for Harald would not "deprive Orm of the 
title he had already given him"), Hakon was given Orm's title and authority, and 
married Ragnild.
