He [John Lovel] married, before August 1216, [----] daughter of Alan BASSET and 
Aline his wife (j). He died before 23 December 1252. [Complete Peerage VIII:214, 
(transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

(j) Philpot calls her Katherine, and has notes of a grant by their son for the souls of 
Alan Basset and Aline his wife. Katherine, widow of John Lovel, agreed for dower with 
John, son of John Lovel, 37 Henry III. She must have lived to extreme old age.
