I don't know Mansel's ancestry. He may not have been related to the Biset family, and 
taken his wife's name because he now held all of her property (and presumably did not 
have a proper name (other than Fitz"who ever his father was" nor great land holdings 
of his own. It is not the first time that a husband takes the wife's name. Or Mansel was 
a descendant of some much earlier member of the Biset family. There were brother's 
mentioned for William the Carpenter Biset (although that was probaly too recent, as he 
was great grandfather of Constance). A descendant of Manasser Biset would be 1 
generation further removed, and there was a John Bisset mentioned in Lincolnshire 
who was b. c1068.

I am following Thoroton's descent, which indicates that East Bridgford descended 
through Constantia, dau. of Warin Bassingbourne and Albreda, dau. of Henry Biset of 
East Bridgford.
