The following 2 posts to SGM, 25 Apr 2002, by Kay Allen AG, give the father & great 
grandfather of John. See notes for father Theobald, which show that Robert was his 
father (and therefore Robert, John's grandfather, was son of Theobald, John's great 
grandfather):

John is the greatgrandson of the Theobald Valoines who was father-in-law of Hervey 
Walter. It is a Norfolk and Suffolk family.

I don't know if I responded. I am going to have to study chronology, etc. before I stick 
my neck out :-) I don't automatically discount Farrer in favor of K-R. :-)
