November 4, 1919 enters the Archbishop's Seminary of Salerno, where he attends
gymnasium and high school courses with merit.
1928, first theology course in Genoa, at the Benedettini di San Giuliano d’Albaro.
December 20, 1930 appointed a Deacon.
January 1932, completed studies at Pontifical Faculty, annexed to the Archbishop's
Seminary of Naples, earning the Magna Cum Laude degree in Theological Sciences.
April 4, 1931 ordained a priest in the Salerno cathedral, by the archbishop Mons.
Nicola Montoresi.
October 1931 sent to Rome to study Canonical and Civil Law. Attends the Pontificio
institute Ultriusque Iuris di S. Apollinare
November 16, 1935 graduated in Utroque Iure cum laud, discussing his thesis: De
Historia et doctrina Delegationis A Iure, in Roman Iure, Canonical and in Codeice
Novissimo (A broad summary of this thesis, in 1937, will be published to him in the
magazine Apollinaris.
December 16, 1938 declared Doctor Cum Laude
10 January 1936 appointed parish priest at Santa Maria delle Grazie in Salerno. At the
invitation of the Archbishop Montoresi and the successor Moscati, he collaborates
with two weekly salernita festivals: The Hour of the People and Our Crusade with
articles of a social and pastoral nature supporting controversies with anti-clerical
opponents in the years 1937-47
1938 begins publication of a monthly leaflet: parish chronaca
1949 receives the nomination of Vice Vicario General of the Diocese of Salerno
June 1952 receives nomination of Vicario General (until 21 August 1964)
Appreciated researcher (requested to undertake diplomatic career by the Secretary of
State in 1936, invited to occupy the chair of canonical law in Naples in 1938,
requested by the Sacred Congregation of seminarians to perform the functions of
spiritual director in several regional institutions)
Funeral officiated by S. And. mons. Gerardo Pierro, metropolitan archbishop, 15
December, in the Salerno Cathedral.
Most important publication: Salerno Sacra, Curia Archbishop of Salerno, 1962.
