Beloved husband for 50 years to Sally Ann (nee Leonard). Loving father
of Brian L. Garrett (Mary Beth) of Hopkinton, MA; Sharon M. Garrett
Foulke (Lewis) of Cherry Hill, NJ; Alice R. Garrett of Cherry Hill, NJ
and Kristine M. Garrett McKeever (Kevin) of Lansdale, PA. Devoted
grandfather of James Garrett III, Sarah Garrett, Allison Smith, Ashley
Smith, Tyler Foulke, Hunter Foulke, Kelsey McKeever and Kyle McKeever.
Also survived by his step mother Helen Garrett. Visitation Wednesday
afternoon 1:30 to 2:45pm in Christ The King RC Church, 200 Windsor
Avenue, Haddonfield, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday afternoon
3pm. Interment Colestown Cemetery Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers,

LOUGHREY MARY L. (nee Garrett), on Oct. 17, 2002, age 63, of Stratford;
wife of the late James; survived by a daughter, Lorraine D. Winston, of
Glastonbury CT; a brother, James H. Garrett, of Haddonfield and 2
grandchildren, Benjamin and Rachel. Mrs. Loughrey worked for the Camden
County Board of Social Services for 30 years. Family and friends are
invited to her Memorial Service Monday 11:30 A.M. at KAIN FUNERAL HOME,
8 W. Kings Highway, Haddonfield N.J.; where friends may call after 11
A.M. Interment private. Memorial Donations may be made in Mrs.

see notes under James H b 1935 who was not identified when the preceding was 
written, as he was on the 1940 census that came out later (but why is Mary not on it?) 
Yet on pub rec she shows up as b 14 Aug 1934. That, too, does not fit. That's 
because it's her husband's bdate.

Helen Roberts Garrett, 99, of Richmond, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012.
Originally from Asheville, N.C., Ms. Garrett was a longtime resident of the D.C.-Metro 
area before relocating to her home in Shenandoah. She spent the last 10 years in 
Richmond. 
She was an active church member and an avid reader.
Her husband, James H. Garrett, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Ilma Mowery; five grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances 
G. Nikolaus; and a grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the People’s City Mission in Lincoln, Neb., at 
www.peoples citymission.org.

Helen R. GarrettHelen Roberts Garrett passed away quietly on Sunday, March 4, 
2012, in Richmond, Va., at the age of 99.

Originally from Asheville, N.C., she was a longtime resident of the D.C. Metro area 
before relocating to her beloved home in Shenandoah, Va., then enjoying the last 10 
years in Richmond, Va., close to family.

She was an adored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who took pride 
and joy in her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A woman 
of great faith, she was an active church member who loved the Lord and studying 
scripture. She was an avid reader who kept a determined spirit throughout her life and 
will be remembered as a sweet and gentile lady who touched all she met.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Garrett; daughter, Frances G. 
Nikolaus; and grandson, Brett Mowery.

She is survived by her daughter, Ilma Mowery; grandchildren, Kevin Mowery (Connie), 
Tamara McClure (Vernon), Suzanne Nikolaus, Roxanne Nikolaus and Ann Herald 
(James); six great-grandchildren; and nephews, Martin Moore (Margaret) and James 
Moore (Wanda).

The family is also very grateful for the loving care Helen received from Cheryl Bailey 
and Laverne Jones over the last five years.
