GEORGE FREDERIC WHITNEY of Fr. Washington, Penn., died Oct. 2, 1994. At Kent, 
where he was postmaster for students, and at Germantown Friends School, he played 
football, hockey, basketball, and ended up captain of baseball. Being an honor 
student at Princeton did not Prevent his earning a letter in track. He belonged to the 
Varsity Club, Officers' Club, St. Paul Society, and Colonial Club.

In business, he became v.p. and manager of the Philadelphia office of Scudder, 
Stevens & Clark. He also served as a manager of Philadelphia Hospital. As a trustee 
of Westminster School, and as a board member of the Liberty Co. of Philadelphia. He 
was a member of the Princeton Club, the Philadelphia Club, and the Rittenhouse and 
Sunnybrook Clubs, yet found time for golf, gardening, and travel with his wife, Carol. 
An Episcopalian, he served as a warden and vestryman.

George and Carol have two daughters, Anne W. Clements and Jean W. Yost. A son, 
George F. Jr. '67, died as a freshman in Princeton. George's brother W. Beaumont was 
in the Class of '19. There were two other brothers, two sisters, and four grandchildren, 
plus a number of Carol's relatives. Jacob Riegel '88 was his uncle.

George will be sorely missed by the individuals and organizations he has helped, and 
particularly by his classmates. The class extends sincere sympathy to all the
