Nancy B. Norton, 71, of the Ross Corner Road died Monday evening at the Newton 
Center, Sanford, after a long illness. 

She was born in Ludlow, Mass., a daughter of Ruggles and Alice Sibley Barnard, and 
attended schools in Massachusetts and New York. She attended college in Vermont. 

Mrs. Norton was an artist and painter. She owned and operated a needlepoint 
wholesale business in Union Lake, Mich., known as Spindrift Creations. She also 
painted on canvas with oils and watercolors. 

Mrs. Norton has resided in Shapleigh since 1984, moving here from Union Lake. She 
previously lived in the Chicago area. 

Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Norton of Shapleigh; her mother of Belfast; 
a daughter, Pamela Adriance of Tivilee, N.Y.; a brother, Edward S. Barnard of New 
York City; two stepdaughters, Lynn N. Locke of Aurora, Ill., and Dee N. LaGioia of 
Chicago; and eight grandchildren. 

There will be no funeral service.Arrangements are by the LaFrance-Lambert Funeral
