Mary ''Betty'' Farrell, 76, of Santa Rosa took care of others professionally and as a 
friend for more than 50 years. 
Farrell was a registered nurse and spent 10 years at Community Hospital. 
Her granddaughter, Thyra Peterson of Santa Rosa, said Farrell also cared for elderly 
relatives and her neighbors. 
She received her nurse's training at Highland Hospital in Oakland. She also worked as 
a nurse at Highland and Stanford Hospital. She was head nurse at San Mateo County 
Hospital. She also worked as an emergency room, obstetrics and gynecological nurse. 
Farrell enjoyed gardening, birds and nature. 
She and her late husband, Thomas V. Farrell, were married 47 years. 
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Italian Catholic Federation. 
Besides her granddaughter, Farrell is survived by her son, Michael Farrell of Roseville; 
daughter, Elizabeth Peterson of Santa Rosa; and by three grandchildren. 
A funeral Mass was said Monday at St. Rose. Burial was at Santa Rosa Memorial 
Park. Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel made the arrangements.
