in 1850 census, there is a Joseph Baylis, b England age 62 in Moyamensing. With him 
is Isabella Williams age 38 (b 1812) and Matthew Williams (age 42, owns drug store), 
and Sarah Lee age 20. All b. England But because in 1860 census she is Isabella 
Thomas, this Williams isn't her. Or it could be and then he died and she retook first 
marriage name?? Maybe a cousin. In Moyamensing there also is a John and Matilda 
Baylis, with ch Harriet, Isabella, Julia, Martha, Matilda. Must be related ... note name 
similarities. My guess is that John is Isabella's brother.
1850 otherwise cannot find her
1860 in Philadelphia Ward 10, with a Martha Thomas age 21 (daughter? NO! It is her 
son Edward's wife), b NY, Edward B 28, lawyer b Pa, Eliza Baylis 37 b England (her 
sister?), Anna Dunn age 10 b Pa
1870 in Philadelphia Ward 20 with son and his family
1880 1900 cannot find
arrived in Phila on the Halcyon 18 Jun 1818, age 5 with Joseph age 30, Harriet age 
30 (her parents), Henry age 7, John age 2, Martha age 14, Robert age 18, William age 
41. So my guess is correct ... John is her brother
