1981 book:
Charles was a farmer. Military records describe him as six feet in height, with fair 
complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair.
Charles' wedding vest has been preserved by his descendants.
	On Nov. 16, 1864, Charles enlisted as a private in Company D, 45rd Ohio 
Infantry. He saw action at Nashville, Tenn., and then was sent to New York, N. Y., 
where he was sent by steamer to Beaufort, S.C. He arrived there on Jan. 11, 1865, 
and marched with Sherman through South Carolina to Goldsboro, N.C., where he 
contracted sickness and died. He is buried in Goldsboro, N.C.
	After Charles died, Mary married Josiah Jackman and had several children. 
In 1901, she lived in Old Fort, Seneca Co., Ohio.
