obit of Alice Dot Bradshaw Guymon
Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend passed away peacefully Wednesday,
December 19, 2012, in Cedar City, Utah at the age of 86.
He was the second of six children born to Ross and Eva Bayles Guymon on May 10,
1926, in Parowan, Utah. He had a wonderful childhood helping his Dad and
Grandfather herd sheep in Parowan Valley and in the mountains surrounding Parowan
and Cedar City.
He tried to enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II, but because he was too
young, he had to go home and get his mom to go with him and give her permission. He
served for two years aboard of the USS Sarsi in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of
Alaska.
While on leave for ten days, he married his sweetheart, Alice Dot Bradshaw on
January 13, 1946, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was then sent back for the winding
down of the War. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple on June
26, 1964.
Keith and Dot were blessed with five children, Brad, Bonnie, Gail, SueEllen and
Beverly.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held
the office of High Priest.
He was a master in the sheet metal industry and he owned and operated a sheet metal
business in Cedar City for over 50 years. He would often get up in the middle of a
freezing night and go out in the cold to repair someone's furnace so they would be
warm and often he refused payment for it. He was able to purchase the family sheep
business and thoroughly enjoyed his time lambing and running the herd.
Keith was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Dot, his parents, brothers
Kent and Robert, sisters May Reeves and Merna Getz and grandson Brant Sullivan.
He is survived by his children, Brad (Kathy) Guymon, Bonnie (Jeff) Robinson, Gail
(Les) Lundgreen, SueEllen (Kent) Sullivan and Beverly Grimm, 19 grandchildren, 33
great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and his sister Janet (Rick) Low.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the
Enoch West Stake Center located at 3600 North Minersville Highway, Cedar City,
Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, December 21, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the
Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
at the Enoch West Stake Center. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under
the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
The family would like to thank his granddaughter Lindsay Bean, Kolob Regional Care
Center and Utah Hospice Specialists for their loving care and concern for our Dad.
To quote one of his grandchildren, "He will be remembered as a selfless, kind,
hilarious man who loved his family." We love and miss you Dad, until we meet again.
